The second house was a three-bedroom at 330 Williams Street on
a large lot closer to town. I remember my father working with
Taylor Brothers as the house went up. He died in January and we
moved into the new house in late spring 1951. The mortgage was
paid-off with his life insurance.

I started first grade that fall, Eisenhower was elected
President in 1952 and in the next year Billy Haley and his
Comets' "Crazy, Man Crazy" became the first rock and roll
record to make the pop charts. Innocence was lost.
