Wilbur was a career pilot in the Air Force. He went back to
High School after he graduated to get additional algebra to
qualify for the Army Air Force. He fought in WWII, Korea and
Viet Nam. He rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel and retired to
Florida. We rarely saw him although he wrote his mother
frequently. He spent much of peacetime (actually the Cold War)
in Germany.
