Charlie was born in 1903 on his father's 250 acre farm in
Sinepuxent Neck. The farm had been inherited from his
grandfather Charles William Massey and was on the west side of
Stephen Decatur Highway just south of Lewis Corner.
Like his sibs, he went to high school in Berlin. My Aunt Mary
says they boarded in town for high school. I don't know how
much or how long but I suspect that the were no school buses in
1915 and the farm was probably 8 miles from the school.

Charlie died when I was five and was away most of the time when
he was alive. He would be home on a 3 day pass and then drive
back to Lewis for live-in duty with the Coast Guard.
